queen beehive

The Queen Bee is alive and well.

Last week on the only warm day our team opened a hive hoping to find the queen alive and well and we were rewarded. Here she is, full bodied and fighting fit. See the first spring honey comb being built underneath the white inner roof. The three of us were lucky to be out on the only suitable day. We need at a dry warm day least 12 degrees centigrade before risking exposing the bees’ inner sanctum where the temperature is kept at around 27 degrees centigrade. Not chance of looking again until the end of this week when we are promised a little more sun and spring warmth.
