Wow they have survived well! 6 frames of bees eating ravenously. See the remains of the white tissue paper that was placed underneath the sugar paste boxes so the bees could eat through as and when they needed to. Pollen was dissolved into the sugar paste to provide extra protein for healthy bodies. The sugar paste on its own just acts as an energy boost to help generate extra heat in the cold winter months. The nest must be kept at about 8 degrees centigrade otherwise the bees will die if they suffer lower temperatures for any length of time.
